The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of its 2026 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) exams—and the numbers are looking up.
NABTEB 2026 Results: Big Gains in Pass Rates as Board Cracks Down on Malpractice
In a significant leap from last year, 79,503 candidates—or 81.24% of the 97,863 graded—secured at least five credits, including passes in both English Language and Mathematics. That’s a marked improvement from 2025, when only 68.18% hit that benchmark.
NABTEB Registrar and Chief Executive, Dr. Aminu Mohammed, announced the results on Wednesday, September 2, at a press briefing in Benin, Edo State. He credited the upward trend to a shared push from students, teachers, schools, parents, and other education stakeholders.

“This improvement is encouraging and reflects the collective effort across the entire education system,” Mohammed noted.
Even when English and Maths are factored out, the numbers remain strong: 89,580 candidates (91.53% of those graded) earned five credits or above—again beating last year’s 83.28%.
In a further boost, 24,128 candidates (24.65% of those graded) were certified as craftsmen, highlighting the board’s continued focus on technical and vocational skills.
A total of 100,069 candidates registered for the 2026 session, with 97,867 actually sitting for the exams—an attendance rate of 97.80%, which speaks to strong candidate commitment.

On the administrative side, NABTEB released results just 52 days after the final paper—a quicker turnaround that Mohammed described as part of the board’s drive for faster, more responsive service.
Malpractice Drops, Too
In welcome news, examination malpractice also took a dip. There were 1,554 reported cases involving 847 candidates—just 1.55% of total test-takers, down from the 2025 figure.
Mohammed said the decline proves that new security and monitoring measures are starting to pay off. “The modalities we put in place are yielding positive results,” he said.
A Final Word of Caution
The registrar urged candidates to check their results exclusively through NABTEB’s official portal. He also warned against fraudsters promising fake upgrades or result tampering.
“No individual has the authority to change a candidate’s legitimately awarded result,” Mohammed stressed.
